OptionsGeneral Options for your Website The options section allows you to set global settings that affect your whole website. Default Page Title, Default Meta Keywords, Default Meta Description: When a page on your website is created, there are certain fields that cannot be blank so this is why we have default page settings. Once a page has been created you can edit these settings at any time, within the Page Editing section. The Default values can be changed at anytime, by entering a new value
and then clicking "Save Changes" at the bottom of the page within the
admin section. What is a Page Title? A page title is a general description of your page e.g. if you look at the very top of the current browser you will see the Octavo Help Guide Page Title: "Help: Octavo Content Management". What is a Meta Keyword? This is a collection of keywords to describe your site. They are used by search engines to categorise your website. What is a Meta Description? This is a short paragraph to describe your site. They are used by search engines to provide information about your site. Admin Email Address: This is the address that all announcements from Octavo will be sent to, e.g. upgrades, patches or anything else integral to your website performance, also any emails from the site will be sent to this address. New Member Validation: This is whether you want new members who join your site to have their email address validated or not. If you set this to "Yes" then all new members will have an email sent to their registered address which they must respond to in order to join. lf you set it to "No" then they become members of your site immediately. New Member Group: This sets whether members joining your site have the ability to choose their own membership group. For example if you wish to create a membership group called "Corporate Members" where you would like to have sensitive information, you do not want give all members to ability to add themselves to this group. If this is set to "Yes" members can choose the membership groups they wish to belong to. Use Page Versioning : This sets whether you wish to use page versioning or not. If set to "Yes" then every time you make a change to your page a version will be saved so you can rollback, learn more about versioning. Site Live: This is whether your site is live or not, set this to "No" and your site will not be accessible to people on the Internet. You can use this if you want to make major changes to your website. Reset Meta Tags: By clicking this button you can reset ALL the meta keywords and descriptions on your site to the default one. Reset Page Titles: By clicking this button you can reset ALL the page titles on your site to the default one. Reset Page Counters to Zero: By clicking this button you can reset ALL the page views to zero. Once you are happy with your changes, click "Save Changes" to save your new settings. |
